Dead Sea Scrolls at Science Museum Program with Alex Jassen March 7 and 17

Beginning in March, the Science Museum of Minnesota will be opening an exhibit of the Dead Sea Scrolls.  Our very own Alex Jassen is the academic advisor to the exhibit, and Alex has generously offered to give Darchei Noam members a special guided tour of the exhibit.

 We have made arrangements for the Science Museum's group rate for Darchei Noam members: $22 per adult ($12 for members of the Science Museum).

There will actually be two special events:

Introductory lecture by Alex Jassen: The Dead Sea Scrolls and their Meaning for Judaism

Sunday, March 7, 7:30 - 8:30 pm

Congregation Darchei Noam (open to all).

 Guided tour with Alex Jassen

Wednesday, March 17, 6:30 pm

Science Museum (Darchei Noam members only).

About Alex Jassen

Alex Jassen is assistant professor of early Judaism in the Department of Classical and Near Eastern Studies at the University of Minnesota.  A member of the international editorial team for the Dead Sea Scrolls and the academic adviser to the Science Museum of Minnesota's Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit, he is the author of Mediating the Divine: Prophecy and Revelation in the Dead Sea Scrolls and Second Temple Judaism, which won the 2009 John Templeton Award for Theological Promise.  He is currently working on a book on religious violence in the Dead Sea Scrolls.  Alex was recently named a 2010-2012 McKnight Land-Grant Professor at the University of Minnesota.
